TRIBUTE TO my LONG LOST newly RESURRECTED/ DOMAIN NAME

LIBRARYDAZE

my real alter ego, the real me: TO MY LONG LOST COMPATRIOT

I NEVER THOUGHT I’D SEE IT AGAIN

I’VE BEEN privileged/blessed: I’ve had a miracle.       I’ve been rejuvenated; I have been reborn so to speak…how many people can say that?  This is a tremendous thing at my age – any age actually.

All of this dramatic rhapsodizing because of the reappearance of a Domain Name;   you wouldn’t think a little thing like a domain name would have such an impact.

WHAT HAPPENED?

A long time ago I had a website; it’s name was LibraryDaze;  I was very fond of it.  It not only was a great name, it was very much representative of me – a very personal statement and accomplishment; but then I  lost it;  it was a foster site whose time had run out.  I was very sad   but resigned; so much work down the tube, but that’s technology for you.

The title LibraryDaze came about as a  particularly appropriate identifyer for a series of cartoons I created as a result of my work in a local public library:  I drew cartoons based on my experience.  At first  they were being printed in the library newsletter and then  later the library website; eventually I had a website created (I wasn’t at all computer savvy) so they could be shared by a larger audience.

By the time I lost that arrangement  I had retired and had gone  on to other things/ including a self- propagated website.

It’s been almost a year since the website suffered its demise -  there should be a special home for abandoned websites, a special niche in the cloud and maybe there actually is,  but I’m not capable of retrieving it and there are no visible remains – too bad.  If I wanted to I could have reconstructed it BUT WHAT A TERRIBLE JOB THAT WOULD BE;  and probably not worth it….a lot of it is  actually so out of date that it’s only relevant and of interest to a very limited audience.

One day it occurred to me that it was time to find out what my new website was capable of:  I was reading the small print  and LOW AND BEHOLD I discovered it could provide me with a domain name – cheap.  I checked for availability and was ELATED to discover my old name had escaped being adopted.  I WAS OVERJOYED: THAT DID IT!!!

That was an amazing emotion; I didn’t realize it  meant so much to me.

I am being given the wonderful opportunity to reassume my true identity.  Reaffirmation of my identity – lets fact it nerickson57 is strictly utilitarian; a convenience email address...nothing.

And what should I do with this incredible bit of luck?   a memorial would be just fine.

I started with the fact that it’s primary function  was as a repository for cartoons relating to my life with the library, and with that in mind I set forth to establish what might be reasonable to include.

Along with the cartoons I managed to insinuate  various other items I thought of interest; material I thought was worth passing on.  I guess it was really a rather primitive blog-  I always did like to have my say in things.

So what’s in store for it now that it’s been resurrected?

When I reclaimed it,  it was but a shell of its former self, and there’s no doubt that it’s nameis no longer so pertinent, appropriate, or descriptive.

Time to assume its new identity.   SAME NAME, DIFFERENT PERSONA.  It’s in the process of taking on a new persona/image.  It’s having to include the newly acquired  facets of my life: experience a rather radical Lifestyle readjustment.

None of this is actually too far off the mark:  it fits its lifestyle …AS IT TOO HAS RETIRED…just like me.

THEY SAY you should make changes to keep up audience interest – this is a whale of a change but it’s been so long there’s probably no audience anymore.

I hope you enjoy my whole new personality.
